August in Japan is known for scorching heat and humidity. To feel a touch of coolness, Japan holds Furin wind chime festivals all over the country during the summer. Although summer is nearing its end, the wind chime festivals are still ongoing.

1. Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine Enmusubi Wind Chime Festival (Saitama)

Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine (氷川神社) holds one of the most famous Furin festivals in Japan. Its most distinctive feature is the transparent glass Edo-style wind chimes. A new wind chime pathway has been set up this year on the north side. In the evening, there will be an illumination event where you can enjoy the dreamlike scenery of the wind chime corridor and the stream.

2. Shojuin Temple Furin Festival (Kyoto)
Shojuin (正寿院), known as the Furin Temple of Kyoto, is one of the best places to see wind chimes in Kyoto. The Flower Furin Path is highlighted here, where the wind chimes are decorated with seasonal flowers. July features romantic hydrangeas, August energetic sunflowers, and September pure cosmos flowers.
Additionally, the area around Shōjuin is about 5 degrees cooler than downtown Kyoto, making it a great summer retreat.

3. Minase Shrine Fuku no Kaze (Wind of Fortune) (Osaka)
